2025 Mary Jennings Sport Camp Scholarship Report

Three girls attended camps this summer sponsored by The Playing for Power Project’s Mary Jennings Sport Camp Scholarship.

Kaelyn, age 10, attended University of Florida’s softball camp in June. In her 3-day camp she learned how to run the bases better, took part in drills to help her hit a rise ball and drop ball, and practiced how to slide properly on a Slip-n-Slide!

“I will take the skills I learned and use them in a game,” Kaelyn said in her post-camp report.

Also attending UFlorida’s softball camp was Madeline, age 9. She attended pitching camp where she got feedback on her foot placement, learned agility drills, and practiced thinking positive thoughts.

“The camp was really a fun experience,” she said. “I loved all the stations and I learned a lot during camp. I would love to came back and do it again!”

Harper, age 12, attended gymnastics camp at International Gymnastics Camp in Stroudsburg, PA in July. She was able to try different equipment, get feedback from coaches on her skills, and improved existing skills for her competitions at home.

“I was so nervous but I had the sweetest counselors and cabin-mates,” Harper reported. “They all made it feel like home and made me laugh.” She was selected for the camp’s Count on Kindness award so congratulations to Harper!

The Mary Jennings Sport Camp Scholarship is awarded each year to girls ages 9-13 who choose a sport camp they’d like to attend and then apply for camp registration fees from P4P2. The scholarship was formed in honor of NJ soccer player Mary Jennings who passed away while in college.
